Bespoke systems for complex process exhaust air from chemical production and refineries
The manufacture and processing of chemical products — from plastics and insulation materials through to paints, varnishes and adhesives — as well as the processing of crude oil and gas in refineries, generate exhaust air streams containing complex mixtures of pollutants: chlorinated and fluorinated hydrocarbons (CHCs/CFCs), BTEX aromatics, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), phenols, esters, ketones and mineral oil-based VOCs.
In paint spraying applications in particular, complex mixtures of solvents — sometimes comprising several hundred individual substances — are produced at point sources such as spray booths and from diffuse sources. Operators must comply with the requirements of the TA Luft, regardless of how complex the gas composition is.
This is precisely where Evoran’s strength lies: We provide process-neutral advice and select from a tiered portfolio — adsorption on activated carbon or zeolite, gas scrubbing, UV photo-oxidation and, where concentration or composition requires it, catalytic oxidation (KatOx) in thermal-catalytic reactors at 500 to 1000 °C. For large flow rates with low pollutant concentrations, we also offer pre-concentration using adsorption wheels: this significantly reduces the size of the downstream plant and enables autothermal, cost-effective operation.
